How it works

Hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally occurring in your body, is injected into the treatment sites to provide volume. By doing so, it fills a void and smoothes creases and wrinkles, making your skin look and feel younger. Hyaluronic acid becomes less available as we age and its decline reduces facial volume, leaving unwanted lines and signs of ageing. This varies between individuals and depends on factors like age, skin quality, sun exposure, etc. However, the results normally last 6-12 months.

How is facial filler administered?

Before treatment begins, your face is thoroughly cleansed to prevent infection and a thorough consultation of your face carried out to assess suitability. Topical numbing cream is applied and then we either use a fine needle or a thin blunt-tipped tube called a cannula to inject hyaluronic acid into the area being treated.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment normally takes up to 60 minutes, depending on areas being treated.

Are facial filler safe?

Yes, facial fillers are safe if they are applied by a qualified and professional practitioner.

Does the treatment hurt?

This is not a treatment that is considered harsh or painful, but some mild pain and swelling may be experienced afterwards. Normally, regular pain killers will eliminate any discomfort, which will fade within 24-48 hours.

How long do I need to recover?

Facial fillers are considered a zero-downtime procedure because you can continue as normal immediately after your treatment. You may experience a little redness, swelling, and occasionally mild bleeding, but this is normal and will fade in a matter of hours or days.

Who should not use dermal fillers?

If you have active skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, or broken skin, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain medical conditions like autoimmune disease, or are on blood thinning medication, then you should avoid this treatment. You should also avoid dermal fillers if you have an allergy to lidocaine or have experienced anaphylactic shock in the past.
