What areas can I treat?

Dermaplaning can be applied to any part of the body, particularly where there is scarring, however, it is most commonly applied to the facial area.

How soon will I notice the result?

Immediately. The fresh layer of skin will be visible and you will have a noticeable improvement in your skin quality. Your face may appear a little red immediately after, however, this will fade in a matter of hours and disappear completely within a day or two.

How long do the results last?

Your skin naturally hardens and becomes worn over time, so it is not a permanent fix. How long the results last will vary depending on lifestyle factors like sun and pollutant exposure, any physical contact, and the types of products you apply to it. However, you can expect your skin quality to stay fresh for 1-3 months, maybe more.

How is Dermaplaning administered?

Dermaplaning treatment is carried out using a special bladed article that is designed with safety in mind. Similar to shaving, dermaplaning scrapes away the old, dry, and damaged skin.

How long does the treatment take?

This depends on the size of the area being treated, however, it is a treatment that requires care and precision. Opulent Aesthetics typically allows 30 minutes for small areas to 1-2 hours for wider surface areas of your skin.

Does it hurt?

While dermaplaning is not considered a harsh or invasive treatment, we understand that everyone has a different threshold for physical and psychological discomfort. Dermaplaning is much like a dry shave and feels like mild scraping of the skin.

How long do I need to recover?

Dermaplaning is considered a zero-downtime procedure because you can continue as normal straight after your treatment. You may experience a little redness, dry and flaky skin from scabbing, and rarely mild bleeding, but this is normal and will fade in a matter of hours or days. During the early hours or days following treatment, we advise avoiding exposure to anything that may compromise your skin, including the gym, swimming, or crowded places.

Who should not use Dermaplaning?

If you have broken or active skin conditions, or an infection, you should avoid this treatment until your symptoms or condition subsides.
